• Proper tennis attire and regulation tennis shoes must be worn when playing on court.
• Proper tennis etiquette must be observed
• No loud distracting conversations, abusive language or behavior will be tolerated
• Key Biscayne Tennis Association reserves the right to call Miami-Dade Parks security or the police
• Do not interrupt match play to enter courts or retrieve tennis balls
• Only tennis balls may be used on the tennis courts
• Sweep the clay courts after playing
• Clean the soles of tennis shoes after playing on the clay courts and before
• entering the facility
• Courts are open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 6pm on weekend days, weather permitting
• Courts can be reserved 48 hours in advance: front desk: 305-361-5263, online – TennisDirector.com
• All players must check in at the front desk for their court assignment.
• Specific courts may not be reserved in advance
• Court assignments must be honored
• All court fees are the responsibility of the player reserving the court
• Court fees are $10 per person, per hour
• Players not checked in within 10 minutes of their court reservations time may lose the court to waiting players
• Only one court per person can be reserved unless approved by the Board
• League matches, tournaments and other special events approved by the Board may preempt other play
• Players who reserve courts and repeatedly fail to cancel at least 1 hour prior to their reserved time may have their reservation rights suspended
• No pro service lessons are allowed unless approved by the Board.
• Approved pros must provide annual background checks and proof of
• liability insurance and agree to wear a photo ID at all times
• There will be no adjustments of reservations if courts become unplayable due to weather conditions.
• All courts will be assigned on a first come, first served basis by the desk staff.
• Key Biscayne Tennis Association reserves the right to adjust court reservations due to weather or court conditions
• Children not playing tennis must be supervised by an adult at all times and are not permitted outside the perimeter fencing.
• Any Key Biscayne Tennis Association property (courts, sprinklers, landscaping, maintenance tools, etc.) damaged by players will be charged to the players and/or parents as applicable.
• There is no drop-off area at the facility. Parking is available at the Golf Course parking area.
• Players, parents/guardians and guests should walk to the tennis courts on the golf course path.

The following rules of etiquette rely heavily on common courtesy and should be followed

wherever you are playing tennis. Most of us know the right thing to do, we just need a

gentle reminder every now and then.

Show respect and courtesy

• To your opponent(s), your partner, facility staff and others on or near the courts. Keep your voice down and confined to your court (as much as possible) to not disrupt players on other courts. If you get into a loud dispute with your opponent, take it off the court and away from other players.
• If you are not on court do not engage players actively on court in conversation. This is rude and disrespectful.

Do not walk onto another court during a game

• Wait for the players to finish the game, or at least the point, before requesting permission to walk onto their court. It is very distracting to have someone disrupt a game in progress, so if you must cross another court, do so after the game is finished, and go around the court, not through the middle.

Do not retrieve your ball from the other court

• It is common courtesy not to disrupt players on court during a match. If your ball rolls onto an adjacent court, wait for them to finish the game and kindly ask for “ a little help” to get their attention. Under no circumstances should you run over onto an adjacent court in the middle of a game.

Leave the court as you found it

• Always sweep the courts when you leave them so that they are prepared for the next group of players

Always wear proper tennis shoes

• Make sure you wear tennis shoes onto the courts. The proper shoes give your feet the needed lateral support when running down balls, and making abrupt changes in direction, preventing injury. Furthermore, black soled shoes mark up the hard court which is unsightly and difficult to remove.

Always wear appropriate clothing

• Tops and bottoms must be worn when on the court or at the facilities.

Use the tennis courts for tennis

• A great deal of money goes into maintaining the tennis courts. Non-tennis activities can damage the court surfaces, leaving them unplayable or unsafe for tennis players, resulting in a large expenditure for repairs.

Use the courts assigned

• Be respectful of the staff and use only the court assigned to you.

Absolutely no pets on the courts

• While iguanas and other reptiles are regular visitors to the courts, pets are not allowed on or near the courts.

Pick up after yourself

• Please do not leave empty bottles, cans or old tennis balls out on the court. Dispose of any garbage you have in trash containers on the court or the deck.

Clean your shoes

• When playing on the clay courts, kindly clean your shoes before re-entering the facility

Always monitor children on the courts

• All players, pros, staff and volunteers must follow the rules - this includes children.
• Please look after children. They should not be on the courts or at the facilities unattended at any time.

Have fun!

• Tennis is hard work but a lot of fun, which is why so many people play. Following these rules will help everyone have fun on the courts, preserve the condition of the courts and provide a positive environment for everyone to enjoy.
